Ontario's protected greenbelt is integral to the health of the province. Greenbelt forests, wetlands, and fields are home to hundreds of species and they provide an ecosystem that supports our ability to live and breathe healthy air. Canada's mighty forests are known for filtering tons of carbon every year, one of the most effective ways to reduce the toxins in the environment--more sophisticated than any man-made solution. Developing the greenbelt will be a short-term solution that creates a long-term problem. Once it is developed, the damage to the environment is irreversible. We need to keep our green spaces protected in order to continue to live and breathe and be responsible stewards towards this land for our sake and the sake of future generations.
