It is incomprehensible how the Ford's Government just last year promised that the Greenbelt lands were untouchable for development. And to have the same government do a 180 just a few months ago, proposing to remove 15 parcels of land for development, is nothing short of a betrayal.
The Greenbelt is for Nature, not housing. The Greenbelt is not for Ford's friends. There is a strong smell of corruption here. The tail is wagging the dog here: the developers don't get to pick the lots from the Greenbelt for their elite purposes.
Bill 23 is wrong. Do not demolish the Conservation Authorities ability to assess development projects for their own merits; on the other hand, strengthen their breadth: they do exceptional work. Increase their budget if you want expediency.
Destroying the Greenbelt will not resolve affordable housing. Neither will Bill 23. Who are we kidding here?
