My dad spent years petitioning for land to be added to the green belt to ensure that we keep our green spaces and protect our native species of plants and animals. It felt like we were finally making progress toward being responsible and caring for the small bits of nature we have left. Reducing the green belt boundaries is a terrible idea. It should not be done. Our governments need to first be looking at vacant lots that are being sat on by developers within city boundaries and force developers to create housing there before we even consider touching our green belt boundaries.
