I am quoting from the Waterloo Region Record as published on Friday 9, as follows:
“ Waterloo Region’s Financial Officer, Craig Dyer, says Bill 23 could delay housing because the region will be unable to collect development money it says helps pay for infrastructure such as roads and sewers that new housing projects need” My son works for The City of London in Waste Water and has been sounding the same alarm. He expresses concern, as I do, that taxpayers will be hard hit to pay for the massive number of builds that this Bill proposes. Doug Ford response to “stop whining” is despicable.
Further from the Record article “councillors were told at a meeting this week that the region could lose up to $535 million in development charges over 10 years under the new bill” and further in the article
“Critics in various Ontario municipalities say the legislation could allow developers to pave over wetlands, sell of wetlands, sell of conservation lands and limit conservation authorities from offering their expertise in the planning process.
I cannot wait s government can be voted out in 3 + years.
