I believe a protected environment is very important to Ontarians. My reasons for this belief are based on economics, not a purely environmental belief. Climate changes will ripple across our provincial economy, healthcare system and infrastructure. Setting a price on carbon is a free market approach to dealing with climate change. I support a free market, and I assume the Ontario government does too. Setting a price on carbon allows people and companies who choose to produce more carbon an organized way to do so. The free market will dictate how those costs are absorbed across marketplace. Since the potential harm of climate change is so high, this revenue is needed to protect the economic interests of Ontario. All supporters of the free market understand that government revenue is well spent if it is supporting transportation infrastructure or a strong legal system as these work to keep Ontario competitive and protect our economic interests. Protection against climate change is another issue that must be managed for the good of Ontario's economy, workers, taxpayers and citizens. We elect you to take care of these things for us, so we can prosper in the private sector. Please do the right thing and act on this and implement a carbon pricing strategy. Thanks
