I believe that Bill 4 is a huge step backwards for the Province of Ontario. While many parts of the world are looking forward to more sustainable business and operations, Ontario is looking to taking the easiest route, which is to turn a blind eye on our environment. Cap and Trade is a cost to business but we cannot separate business from environment. When pushed, many businesses find innovative ways to reduce cost, waste and impact on the environment. The outcome is that business learns to become more efficient and more competitive.
The elimination of Cap and Trade also reduces the investment in Ontario innovation and takes us back to the past where we don't have to be concerned with measuring CO2 and other pollutants. Without a cost associated to businesses impacts there is no need or desire to engage in change or progress.
