As someone that works in finance and sustainability I have seen first hand that both the business community understands the economic imperative of having a strong and clear message from the government on climate change and the environment, and concrete programs to reduce emissions.
By repealing the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016 and related programs, Ontario will be taking a step back competitively, and morally. We should take seriously the consequences of climate change on human health and our long term competitiveness instead of avoiding the issue with a short-sighted and uneducated narrative. I had the opportunity recently to discuss climate change issues with congressional staffers on Capital Hill, and I was proud to say I was Canadian and from Ontario. Let's not damage this sense of pride that we feel as members of a progressive province.
I urge you to not pass Bill 4.
