I’m a resident of Port Weller East. I have serious objections to the proposed rebuilding of Sonix Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility. Their history of neglect and incorrect storage of toxic waste caused the death of an employee resulting in pain and suffering for many people. It also resulted in evacuation of us the residents within 700meters of an explosion Jan 2023. The environmental impact was huge for the area. The Rolph’s animal sanctuary waterway was severely contaminated…. Resulting in warnings to us about walking our children and dogs in the area!!! This is “Our Home”!!! Why should we be put at high risk again!! Would the owners of Sonix live in the area after the incident that proved the high risk for having such a facility so close to “ residential communities”?? Why should we be subjected again!! Who in their right mind would even consider a rebuild!
