Do not introduce flexibility or amend the required 30m setback for soil storage next to open waterbodies or wetlands. Mitigating erosion and silt runoff from long term stockpiles can be challenging and precipitation driven, often isolated with inept measures that require routine maintenance to ensure functionality. Requiring the stockpile to be created 30m away from the waterbody causes the owner/receiver to plan, budget and schedule that activity properly; thereby leaving less room for adverse affects from erosion to the sensitive areas 30m away.
