I do not agree with the proposal to streamline the environmental permissions for stormwater management.
I believe that public consultation is crucial to the application process. I further believe that the perceived need to streamline is in part because conservation authorities have been cut out of this process, putting the burden of review elsewhere. The Conservation Authorities should be restored and even more involved and given the responsibility and resources to be involved in the planning and oversight of stormwater projects where local government is not equipped or staffed to do so.
I also have a particular concern with streamlining any project dealing with the aggregate extraction industry. This industry can have an outsized impact on stromwater and it's effects and should therefor be ineligible from any streamlining.
