I am a life time Dresden resident. We are not in need of any sort of dump at that location for any reason. we already have municipal services and sites that provide us with all of the services required for our waste in town. This would be an unnecessary expansion of a site that was been unused for lack of need for several decades. As well it would disturb the ash that was buried there from a town incinerator years ago and create a environmental disaster. We were all glad when the original site ceased operation. This area serves as a drainage area for the east Sydenham river (see map figure 1 2018 federal action plan for Sydenham river.pdf Attached * Molly's Creek is shown as an extension of the Sydenham river) . Molly's creek runs through this site and is a natural habitat for many bird species Including bald eagles, rare and endangered fish species and rare endangered turtles and at risk species of freshwater mussels that then flows into the waters of the Sydenham river, which has a very delicate ecosystem that is essential for the continued health of the local environment and wetlands. For the M.O.E to approve this expansion would be a dereliction of its duty to protect Ontario's natural habits in favor of the bottom line of a for profit company. York1 has not consulted with the municipality in any meaningful way regarding this or their other current expansion compliance request. The municipal council in full and unanimous oppose this and any application for increased waste disposal on the site bought forth by York1. We have a lovely town and in no way, and in no uncertain terms do we want waste from any other regions coming though our town at all hours of the day. The increase is truck traffic destroying our roads would contribute to our already large deficit towards infrastructure spending, not to mention a nuisance and a safety hazard to the residents and children of our community. Health concerns, and property values being destroyed is of the utmost concern of all residents in our town. This site sits far to close to our community (1km) and the historic and ecologically diverse Sydenham river for it to become one of the largest, if not the largest industrial and commercial waste sites in Ontario. I know I speak for the residents of Dresden and surrounding areas to implore the ministry to stop approval now before we all end up paying for it later.
