The Ipcc just released their report sentencing us all to a 1.5 + degree future. A large part of this is because of greedy, ineffective, not scientifically supported decisions made by politicians who are interested in maintaining/elevating their own position and platform over the collective rights of us as humans to live on a healthy, sustainable earth. The burden of climate change is often placed on individual choice/consumption. While this should be considered, this is mainly a diversion tactic to cover-up how corporations and policy makers push environmental legislation that will have devastating consequences, not just for future generations, but for us now, and especially for us in the very near future. The Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016 should absolutely, under no circumstances, be repealed. Now more than ever we need to be taking every measure to ensure that only conscious environmental decisions are being made, and repealing this act is a slap in the face to everyone (especially climate scientists, activists, and Indigenous peoples) who have been screaming into the void for what feels like an eternity: climate change is real! It is mostly caused by humans! We need to take action now to stop it!
Thank you for your consideration of my comment.
