I am alarmed at developments…

I am alarmed at developments in which Waterloo Region and Wilmot Township are trying to acquire farmland in the region, and to allow building on the Regional Recharge Area. This seems to have come about through reopening the reinstated Regional Official Plan, that protected farmlands and the water supply of Waterloo Region inhabitants. There are strong economic and environmental reasons for protecting these lands from commercial or industrial development. These kinds of decisions must be revisited with an environmental science lens for the sake of the health of our Region and its water supply.
