Whatever changes are approved, they should be based on the proposal by municipalities and the requirements of the planning act. With some of these cities, there were changes made to the official plan by the province based on the requests of private individuals so that they could benefit from zoning changes. This is frankly unacceptable. Changes to official plans need to be made based on good, thorough, planning and evaluation, not for opportunistic benefit for a few individuals. Whatever changes are reverted here I would hope are reflective of the proposals by municipalities and carefully considered based on good planning principles.
