How do you explain to our children that the world is undeniably heading towards global environmental crisis, yet our province chose to ignore and actively go against the advice of the top researchers and scientists for temporary financial gain? There is nothing but financial benefit for those who will be out of the picture when the cost of our concious ignorance has to be paid. The cost of carbon emissions will be paid, either now through money, or later with lives. There is no way around that, so why not start now? Why push these costs into the future? It is an embarassment, and as a 23 year old looking at the province where I intend to raise a family, I am disgusted. This goes beyond political party loyalties. I can't ethically think about bringing children into a world where they will have less than we currently do. And I am not talking about money, you can't drink or eat or breathe money. You are killing our excitement and hope for a liveable future. Shame on those who support this mentality.
