The UN recently released a report that indicated we are on a path to huge negative environmental issues as a result of our collective reliance on carbon emitting activities such as transportation, household heating and energy production. The Ford governments blatant political based denial of this is appalling. The cancellation of a program that was recommended by experts and was already working and in place is backwards and massive waste of money and resources. The fact that it wasn’t mentioned in his platform was misleading. Cancelling programs people were relying on to help reduce the cost and carbon foot print of heating their homes or driving around the city is just plain bad public policy. It is clear that this government has no intention to live up to the “environmental” name of this ministry and will not only set us back in terms of public policy but will create damage to the environment and to the pockets of the “taxpayer” at any cost.
