The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change just issued a frightening warning that we earthlings only have about a dozen years to turn things around. The signs are already here - increased wildfires, two very dangerous killer hurricanes, melting arctic ice and so on. The cost of recovery from these weather related disasters is staggering!
If this Cap and Trade plan to address climate change is cancelled what is the plan to address climate change and when will it be enacted - like it was needed yesterday.
The Premier claims that carbon taxation does not work yet the Nobel Prize for economists was just awarded to two gentlemen who proved that carbon taxation is the most effective way to lower greenhouse gas emissions. I would like to see the Premier's scientific evidence for his claim.
Further more cancellation of the Cap and Trade will be extremely expensive and eliminate income to help address green house gas emissions. Where will the government get the funds to replace this loss?
Finally cancellation of green energy projects with the view that oil and gas is better for the economy is short sighted at best. Green energy is a job creator both though manufacturing and in mining to provide the materials to produce the equipment.
