The objective of the province’s plan is to identify a long-term aspirational network of cycling routes across Ontario that will: •Promote recreational cycling and cycle tourism, •Connect municipal cycling routes and places of interest, •Identify areas of provincial infrastructure that should acco
I am disappointed as I would like to see 'Green" or off road trails from Lake Ontario all the way to Simcoe. I see through municipalities like Markham Richmond Hill that biking is on roads. In brief, biking on roads does not encourage Ontarians to cycle.
Unless brought up to a standard that a bicycle can easily navigate, the trails are of little use. The Cataraqui Trail from Sydenham to Chaffey's Locks, for example, only has been improved for a kilometre or two on either side of little hamlets. Beyond that, it is only good for ATV's.

The Town of Ajax is pleased to support the alignment of the draft Province-wide Cycling Network as it pertains to the Ajax portion of the route. The route as it aligns with the existing Waterfront Trail in Ajax does not require any infrastructure upgrades at this time.
Discovery Routes is the coordinating agency for the Véloroute Voyageur/ Voyageur Cycling Route. Currently in the implementation stage is the 380km route between Sudbury and Deep River with sectional launch throughout 2017 – 2018.
In support of the alignment of the Voyageur Cycling Route as it appears on the provincial map. Looking forward to improved and safer facilities along the corridor!

I would like to make a comment about bright clothing to be worn by cyclists. There are an average of 74 cyclists deaths annually across Canada. Most deaths are in Ontario. I believe that cyclists should have to wear high-visibility yellow or high-visibility orange.

Overall, the Province-wide cycling network development is positive and will help to ensure the safety of cyclists. One future area for development should be an on-road access between Brantford and Caledonia, which could be developed along Hwy 54.
There isn't enough east-west cycling links in the built-up areas of the Greater Toronto Area. The Greenbelt Route is a hiking trail, is not designed for cycling and is too far north from the major communities in York Region and City of Toronto.
The City of London has reviewed the updated Provincial Cycling Network recently posted for comment on the MTO website between April 12 and May 26, 2017. The recommended routes through London have been greatly improved from earlier versions.
I am encouraged when I see positive legislation regarding safe cycling in our province. It not only encourages cycling to Ontarians but encourages tourism. I have travelled extensively looking for cycling friendly locations. Quebec seems to have it right with lots of cycling paths.
Please consider having the spine route from Ottawa that heads north to Renfrew County come through Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills for the following reasons -
