We must stop destroying wildlife habitat and of consequently the species whose habitat it is. The Web of Life is just that - an interdependent web that evolved slowly and which we are destroying species by species for short term gain and at our peril. Protect the forest and Its inhabitants. It's a no-brainer...Caribou are on the endangered list. We have an obligation to protect them. We also have an obligation to protect the wanton destruction of trees. Please use common sense and not give away our resources to profit making people. [Original Comment ID: 212606]

The recent World Wildlife Fund report shows that species around the world are in decline, and this trend is clear in Canadian species -- both endangered and not. Long-term consequences of species loss and biodiversity can be catastrophic in ways that are not immediately obvious. Read more

I work in the forest industry as an Accountant. The forest industry is one of the only truly environmentally sustainable renewable industries, and it would be a travesty if decisions were made without industry input, as we support sustainable forest management practices. Read more

I was informed in an e-mail from Greenpeace that the Ontario government wants to exempt the logging industry from the Endangered Species Act until 2020. I think this is completely wrong, and that no industry should be exempt from adhering to legislation which protects Ontario's natural heritage. Read more

Exemptions that give industry special allowance to proceed in forest operations despite harm to species at risk, and their habitat, should not be in place. This undercuts the purpose of the Species At Risk Act, and makes a mockery of our commitment to protecting vulnerable wildlife. Read more
