Description of instrument
This proposal is for an amended Environmental Compliance Approval No. 7416-5RFKL9 (Waste Disposal Site) for Optimum Environmental Corp., for a non-hazardous solid waste transfer and processing facility. The site is a 2.5 hectare property located in the City of Toronto, Ontario.
The facility accepts solid non-hazardous waste including institutional, commercial and industrial, and construction and demolition material. An increase in the amount of incoming waste to 2,500 tonnes per day, initially operating at 1,200 tonnes per day, with a maximum on-site indoor storage capacity of 5,200 tonnes of unprocessed material.
The facility proposes to operate indoor processing and shipping 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with retail receiving hours Monday to Friday 5:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturday from 5:00 am to 3:00 pm, and contract bulk receiving 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with the option to receive and operate on a full 24 hours per day, 7 day per week basis.
The site serves the Greater Toronto area, surrounding municipalities and the Province of Ontario.
