Today the Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to William Nordhaus of Yale University and Paul Romer of of New York University. Based on research with detailed economic models Nordhaus has called for the world to combat climate change by imposing a universal tax on carbon. Read more

Scientists across the globe have come to an evidence-based conclusion that if the global temperature increases by 2 degrees Celsius there would be a catastrophe endangering the human species. An increase in 1.5 C would still be damaging. At least that wouldn't endanger the whole species. Read more

The proposed Cap and Trade Cancellation Act is incredibly deficient on numerous fronts. First, the public consultation process, which appears to have been initiated under duress, does not provide any meaningful background documents to allow informed response. Read more

I am very concerned about the open-endedness of the proposed Act which repeals Cap and Trade. Is it not very costly to scrap a policy which much of the world has embraced after decades of target setting and compromise? What will the new climate change plan be based on?

Anytime a politician says they are putting jobs and the economy first, to the detriment of the environment, does not understand the purpose of jobs and the economy. You can't eat money and if we pollute the planet it will shake us off like insects. Read more
