This act seems to be a regressive step driven by nothing more than neoliberal ideology. Does the government intend to leave Ontario with no climate change action plan at all? If not, then surely it would make sense to actually have a new one before dismantling the old one.

I find this decision to be ill informed and a huge step backwards. I see no evidence that this will benefit anyone other than the heavy polluters. Ontario has the all the resources required to be both environmentally responsible and economically strong. Read more

Bill 4 is an incredibly short sighted, irresponsible piece of legislation that should never even be considered. It simply cancels the only program the province had to address climate change and absolves the government of all responsibility. Read more

We urge Ontario officials to create legally binding emissions targets, to fine polluters and to end subsidies and handouts to fossil fuel companies. Monies would be redirected to clean energy initiatives. Real climate change would allow Ontario to be powered 100% by clean energy by 2050.
