The limit of 50 a day seems terribly excessive especially as DB Cormorants are not generally considered a food animal. Given the wording that also infers that spoilage would be allowed, this is not really or does not really appear to be a "hunting" season as much as a "culling" season.

I personally believe that a season on the double-breasted cormorant would be good thing as not only do they eat bait fish that help sustain the Great Lakes fisheries for the commercial and sports fisheries but would assist in preventing the devastation of vegetation on remote islands that exist out

Yeah I agree with the hunting of the double crested cormorants in areas where they are destroying the fishery and damaging the islands they are breeding on
I would love to see a legal cormorant hunt to allow
1. smaller game fish more sustainability
2. less competition with other species such as Great Blue Herons for nesting sights
3. less toxic feces which can destroy the foliage of small islands should the cormorants adopt that space for nesting.
As a fisherman, I am all in favour of controlling the Cormorant population.
I see them in large flocks on Lake Simcoe, Georgian Bay and Lake Ontario. As they have no natural predators, the flocks just keep getting bigger and doing more and more damage to the fish population.

I think there should be a season on cormorants they cause a lot of damage to our echo system. They eat a lot of fish and damage all the shore lines that they nest on their droppings are so toxic that it destroys any veggitation around their nesting area. Something has to be done.
North Eastern Georgian Bay is over populated with the Double Crested Cormorant. They travel in flocks of over 100 chasing prey. The water looks like it is boiling as they come to the surface as a group.

A healthy, balanced approach to managing this overabundant species is a good thing for the ecosystem. Also, the suggestion to have an open season from March to December provides hunters an opportunity during the offseason which could potentially have a positive economic impact for the province too.
Those things have become a nuisance. They have taken over several Toronto Islands and islands in Lake Erie near Dunnville. Their shit stinks so bad you can not go near them. They eat their weight in fish every day.

if you've ever seen the damage this bird can do not only to the fishery but the landscape as well this law should be a no brainer! Seen what appeared to be an island turned into an ugly dead reminder of something going seriously wrong . Control these birds please
Your proposal reminds me of what happened to the Passenger Pigeon. This is all out slaughter of not only the DCCO but all of the other birds that nest in the DCCO colonies.
I strongly support the proposal to initiate a series of regulatory and legislative amendments to manage and control cormorant populations in Ontario. My decision is best summed up by the resolution passed by the U.S.

This action re. establishing a hunting season for double-crested cormorants in Ontario has implications well beyond this one species. Real studies need to be conducted.
I would like to comment in favour of the proposal. I believe a season is long over due and hope that science prevails over emotion in making an intelligent decision.
