The bear hunt MUST be stopped. This is beyond cruelty or necessity. These are sentient beings. They have souls. They feel pain. They have families. There is no need to allow this hunt to proceed. It’s murder in cold blood and needs to be stopped for good.

Please reconsider your proposal for a Spring Bear Hunt. This is a cruel time of the year to hunt. Will orphaned babies be left to die? Or...who will rehab the orphaned babies? This kind of act is not what Canada wants to be known for. Stop this action now. Read more

Please reconsider and disallow the spring black bear hunt. The only sure way to prevent cubs from being potentially orphaned is to ban spring hunting. Hunters may fail to make the distinction between male and female targets. Please ban this hunting practice, as previously. Read more

This is such a bad idea. Hunters cannot be reasonably expected to identify female bears from a football field away. Please do not pass this bill. This is trophy hunting not needed for food or clothing, a hide hanging on a wall. No different than killing an elephant or rhino.

Hunters often fail to make a distinction between male and female black bears, often orphaning their babies who are too young to survive on their own. I support a full ban on bear hunting. I implore you to understand these are sentient beings who do not deserve to die. Read more

1. I am happy steps are being taken to protect the bear population in the Bruce Peninsula. 2. I do not support commercial bear hunting, and I wish you would use the word “kill” instead of “harvest”. It seems dishonest; they are bears, not cucumbers. Read more

If you're looking to control the bear population PLEASE don't do it by killing them! Please find another more ethical solution...capturing baby female cubs, spaying them and the relaxing them back. This is more costly but more humane. Read more
