Black bears are one of the most beautiful creatures we have on the Peninsula. To hunt them to me is cowardly. Most bears only become a “nuisance” because of people being careless with their garbage, food, etc. and building on their habitat

Enough with these barbaric practices. Often, humans think culling is the answer to population problems...but it's not because we are not part of that 'food chain'. We disrupt the natural order of things at the expense of every other species and to the 'advantage' of our own. Read more

Considering hunters shoot each other every year, reference father and daughter fatally shot by hunters mistaken for deer, you CANNOT tell me they will be able spot a nursing mother or not. The hunters are lying to you, and you are apparently very gullable. Read more

Humans destroy the habitats of wild animals so they can build more houses, shopping malls and more paved streets and highways. Animals have at least as much right to live their lives as people. Killing any animal for "sport" is barbaric. Read more

Skip the fines for killing female bears and just go straight to the humane practice of NOT hunting Bears. Must we hunt all species to extinction? the decision here is obvious. If the black bears are dangerous to people then the people should stay out of their habitat.

This spring black bear hunt is cruel and unethical leaving young black bears that need their moms orphaned. This needs to stop. I understand that there are protections for nursing mother bears which is great on paper but it is something that works very poorly in the field. Please stop this!

Black bear hunting should be liberal. Spring bear season is sustainable. I want the MNRF to base decisions on science not centred around the vocal minority. Please move forward with these changes. Lower bear populations may improve the conditions for moose as well. Read more

We should not go forward with a spring bear hunt. As far as I recall one bear was found with some calf reminants in its stomach and this has given hunters the opportunity to ask to slaughter bears. Ford is now even cutting red tape on bears. When will this stop? Read more

Until the science is sound around ensuring cubs will not be orphaned, left to die, alone and inhumanely the hunt should be stalled until further measures can be taken. Hunters claims of being able to tell if a female is nursing are untrue and unfounded.
