Please reinstate permanately the Spring bear hunt. A permanent Spring hunt is integral to the sustainability ,health and welfare of Ontarios bears. Removing mature males from the population is more effectively accomplished in Spring, and benefits greatly remaining sows and young.

Best scenario. Spring Bear Hunt should be abolished, however if hunt is too continue, changes must be made. -It should last 30 days, June 1 to June 30. -Baiting must stop after June 30 not to begin again until September 1st, or 2 weeks prior to fall hunt. Read more

Females with cubs must be protected; currently that is difficult as cubs are frequently treed or kept away by their mother while she forages. The current season of May 1 to June 15 should be changed to June 1 to June 30 to protect females with cubs as well as the cubs themselves. Read more

I am very concerned regarding the black bear spring hunt. Society is rapidly changing and we are becoming increasingly more aware of our relationship to animals and our need to protect them and their habitat and certainly their environment. Read more

I do not support a spring bear hunt in Ontario. It is unsustainable to hunt animals while they are raising young. Hunters have proven repeatedly they can't tell a sow with cubs from a sow without cubs. I am against making the spring bear hunt a permanent hunting season.

I am completely against a spring bear hunt because, as we all know, it results in orphaned cubs who usually die a slow death without their mother. It is impossible for even responsible hunters (and many are anything but responsible) to be sure that they are not killing a female animal. Read more
