The Spring Bear Hunt should be cancelled. There is no way to ensure a mother with cubs will not be shot as she would tree her cubs before foraging, and these cubs would be left to die, unable to fend for themselves.

Black bears have the lowest rate of reproduction of any land mammal in North America and reach sexual maturity late in life. Most females cannot produce cubs every second year, may do so every 3-4 years, but also can take up to 8 years.

There is absolutely no evidence, environmental or otherwise as to why there needs to be a bear hunt. Stop appeasing the American hunters at the detriment of our Canadian wildlife.
