Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals who are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt. This is unacceptable and any facilities that partake in this should be removed not expanded.

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals who are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt. Read more

This should continue to be phased out. The practices were (and are still considered) barbaric and inhumane. I have no qualms with hunting and trapping, however using live animals as bait is cruel. This was recognized in 1997 and regression in this matter is unacceptable.

Train and trial areas are unethical and create immense suffering for the animals involved. The meager benefits are outweighed by the steep moral costs. They should continue to be phased out. I strongly oppose this measure.

Wildlife should never be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters. It’s especially cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions. Read more

I am saddened to hear that the government is proposing a return to pre-1997 laws in respect of dog train and trial areas. I do not support this change in law. These facilities subject wild animals to cruel and inhumane treatment. Ontario is better than this. - EH, Toronto

How in the world can you think that these facilities are a good idea? It is the institutionalized torture of animals for entertainment. Any compassionate human would regulate these out of existence rather than expanding their scope.

I firmly disagree with your choice to allow capture of animals and then use of these animals to train dogs. This is disgusting and truly a step back in animals right rights. This is almost as bad as the fur trade farms. Please seriously reconsider this policy.

Using wild animals as “training” bait is barbaric and should be outlawed. Absolutely disgusting. Can you imagine how terrified and tortured these poor animals are? And for what purpose exactly? Because some adults love killing animals with other animals? This whole concept is sick and twisted.
