This practice was pulled back on 25 years ago because it was unnecessarily cruel and brought minimal value to the province. I am incredibly confused as to why the current government is doing this. It makes no sense and as an Ontario resident and taxpayer I am 100% against it.

I do not support this. The existing facilities need to be closed and the cruel practice discontinued. The province needs to take a tougher stance on animal welfare and not encouraging and prolonging these barbaric practices.

I strongly disagree with the proposal by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to allow new licenses and transfer of licenses for dog training and hunting areas in Ontario. These facilities that use captive wild animals to train dogs to hunt are inhumane. Read more

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals who are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt.

I’m deeply disturbed that Ontario plans to reverse a province-wide ban on cruel new “train and trial areas”, where hunters participate in the blood sport of penned dog hunting. Read more

Wildlife should never be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters. It’s especially cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions. Read more

I am disgusted by the very notion that we need to hunt animals, pen them up, and then have dogs chase them down for “training.” Please stop this proposed change from continuing and disallow the capture and attack on wildlife.

This is absolutely sickening. To think that such facilities exist in Ontario in 2023 is appalling. These need to be shut down, not encouraged and expanded. I’m a huge dog lover, but I would never support such inhumane treatment of our precious wildlife. For shame.

I very strongly oppose this proposal. The cruel treatment of animals in this way is cruel and inhumane and has absolutely no place in our society. And nobody who supports such treatment of animals deserves to be in a position to instate it.
