I adamantly oppose the Ontario Government proposed amendments to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to allow new licenses, and the transfer of existing licenses, for facilities that use captive foxes, coyotes and rabbits as bait to train hunting dogs, for the following reasons: Read more

I was upset to hear this practice. Wildlife should never be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters. It’s especially cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions.

PLEASE DO NOT PROCEED WITH THIS PLAN. IT IS BARBARIC AND WOULD BRING US BACK TO THE DARK AGES WHEN THERE WAS VERY LITTLE RESPECT FOR LIFE. THIS IS SIMPLY A HORRENDOUS IDEA AND IT IS SICKENING.

Why allow cruel people to force innocent dogs to hunt their ancestors or any other innocent animal for that matter. Makes no sense. Especially when I'm sure these same people would then turn around and say, "Oh, I consider myself an animal lover.". Really!? 🤨🙄😒 Read more

Really. These facilities should be banned and closed. What happened to cruelty to animals rights. It is inhumane to allow this. Train your dogs other ways. Why not cock fighting and dog fighting. Your ministry is still up in the Roman era. Wrong, wrong and wrong. Read more

This is a horrendous practice. Please stop the issue of new licences and grandfathering in of ones still active. Speak for the people, if everyone knew the facts of this practice they would almost all call for its demise.

These facilities have no place in Ontario. It is not humane to use fox, rabbits and coyotes as bait to train dogs. Instead of allowing new facilities, the existing facilities should be shut down.

This penned wildlife proposal is barbaric. I cannot imagine how anyone could support such a cruel and unsportsman-like activity. I takes no skill to have dogs chase down a terrified wild animal who cannot escape. Read more

Stop the cruelty to wild animals. I reject your proposal to reinstate penned animal hunting by dogs. My heart breaks thinking this may happen and animals will be tortured. How is this possible for our government to allow such a thing. Stop it now.

This proposal in my opinion, is completely inhumane. I don’t believe it’s any different than having dog fighting rings become legal. If an animal is killed in the wild, that’s nature. Trapped by humans, and subjected to being torn apart by dogs, is indescribably cruel. Read more
