I am completely opposed to this cruel form of “sport”. We are in the 6th mass extinction and we should be doing everything in our power to support our wildlife. Instead of this, we should be encouraged co-existence with animals and eco-tourism more along the lines of Costa Rica. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposal to allow new licences for dog train and trial areas and transfer of existing licenses. This allows for inhumane treatment of wildlife and is a giant step backward for Ontario. Please do not proceed with this legislative change.

I would like to express my opposition to the expansion of penned hunting. I feel that it is vicious and cruel to allow dogs to terrorize and tear apart vulnerable wildlife. I want to believe that those in government will use their power to appreciate, respect, and protect our wildlife. Read more

Absolutely disgusting. Just let dogs hunt smaller dogs then??!? Dogs that are hunters don’t need this type of training, it’s a natural instinct. This is for sick people to get off just like any other dog fighting. Natural things happen in nature. This is not natural. This is cruel. Read more

I want to express my outrage, horror and disappointment that local Government would even THINK that penned hunting would be an acceptable form of sport. If you people have ever been bitten by a large dog you would understand what I am talking about. Read more

Hello, I support this proposal. It is very important to provide areas to train and trial hunting dogs in Ontario. Training and trialing areas provide a safe place for new and experienced dog handlers to train their dogs. Read more

I oppose this ridiculous and inhumane practice called penned hunting. It is not a sport and not a good vehicle for training dogs. It seems similar to cock fighting…. Someone’s idea of entertainment. I wonder…. do they place bets on which dog will corner and kill the wildlife?

It boggles my mind how we use wild animals to train dogs to even hunt and kill more wild animals. There is a a criminal code to prevent unnessary pain/suffering to an animal. And here the Government wants to allow even more pain/suffering to wild animals. Read more

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Instead of opening new applications, the province’s existing 24 facilities need to be closed immediately. Read more

I oppose train and trial facilities. Subjecting animals, wild or not to the distress of capture, transport, captivity, chase and injury flies in the face of hunting ethics and the humane treatment of animals.

I am not a dog owner but have seen the benefits of dogs that have been trained in enclosures. There is and always will be a need for proper training in a controlled environment. Proper and adequate controls to prevent unnecessary harm or injury to the target species have been considered.

Bonjour, je suis tout à fait contre la modification à la Loi de 1997 qui permettrait d'établir de nouvelles zones de dressage et d'épreuves pour chiens de chasse ainsi que le transfert de permis à de nouvelles personnes. Read more
