The proposal to allow hunters to trap wildlife for the purpose of training hunting dogs is horrific. This practice needs to be eliminated, not expanded upon. Absolutely senseless and cruel! Do not proceed with this proposal.

This is disgusting and disturbing. Where we should be moving forward with animal welfare law, we only seem to be moving backward. We already have next to zero protections for animals. Do NOT move forward with this. Animals are not ours to use. SHAME!

I cannnot believe this government even allows such barbaric practices to exist let alone increasing them. Your work as a government must surely have more important issues to consider.Training dogs to kill other ceatures belongs in the past. Read more

ERO number019-3685 I apposed this new proposal because of its inhumane use of wild animals for bait in trials. I have hunting dogs and understand that the training process is important but their drive can be easily directed in other ways. Read more

I am a 67 year-old Ontario resident. I have lived in Ontario my entire life. I have never heard of this practice. Just what is the necessity to "train" dogs to rip apart helpless, caged-in prey? How does this have anything to do with hunting? Read more

Hunting, including training dogs to assist in hunting is unnecessary and barbaric. There is no lack of evidence for this statement, especially for so called population control or the biological necessity to eat animals.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario should be rejected. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to the wild animals involved. Read more

Keeping animals captive in limited space and exposing them to a hunting dog limits the capacity of the wildlife to cope. These wildlife will be in constant state of stress. Simply housing them yet exposing them to this exercise is a very low bar for welfare. Read more
