I do not support the proposed legislation. It’s not answering any need, it will harm Ontario’s reputation (nationally and internationally), and it is cruel. I urge you to withdraw the Bill and reject this approach to wildlife in the province.

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario. Penned dog hunting facilities are cruel to wild animals that are subjected to various methods used to train dogs to hunt. Read more

I am against this proposal. I feel that this is an extremely cruel practice. To rip wildlife out of their homes to be confined and killed for the sake of training dogs? Surely there is another way to train hunting dogs. Read more

I think this proposal is absolutely preposterous and disgusting. This moves humanity in a horrifying direction. These animals deserve to be treated humanely. I strongly oppose this proposal moving forward. No transfer of licenses, no opening of new pens. Absolish this idea. Read more

As a veterinary technician born and raised in Toronto, I am horrified and saddened by this barbaric proposal to further ethically disregard the sentience of our wildlife neighbours. Canadians are better than this, we are better than this.

The proposed amendment to allow the issuance of licences for new train and trail areas should not be accepted. The practice of trapping wild animals to be used to train hunting dogs is inhumane. The practice causes extreme levels of undue stress to captured animals. Read more

Taking wild animals from the wild and caging them to train dogs to hunt wild animals is very inhumane. This practice is barbaric and unnecessary. People who allow this or participate in this should be arrested for animal cruelty. Read more

This cruel and inhumane practice needs to be left in the past. Phasing this out was the right choice, and we should continue to work towards ending it altogether. There is enough technology and other options to make this practice of hurting live animals completely avoidable.

I can hardly believe the proposal from Fishery and Wildlife is even suggesting using wildlife as practicing tools for hunting dogs. 1. Cruelty -trapping wildlife/ holding them to being repeatly used as props for the purpose of what? Come on? Who is proposing this? A hunting club? Read more

Please do not allow this. It is cruel and inhumane to remove innocent animals from their homes to be tortured. There are already a number of threats to wildlife including habitat destruction and another attack is not needed. It is shameful that the province would consider such a proposal.

I do not support the issuance of licenses for new dog train and trial areas. Nor do i support the transfer of these licenses! It is inhumane to hunt these animals in their natural environment and place them in secure areas to live in fear. Read more

I am totally opposed to penned hunting. I can't imagine anything more terrifying for an animal than being chased by dogs intent on catching & probably hurting and/or killing them. Absolutely inhumane. Read more

I wholeheartedly disagree with this proposition. It is inhumane and cruel to these animals. Train and trial areas with live animals should not be allowed to operate under any circumstance.
