It’s unhumane and unnecessarily cruel! Wildlife should be kept free and unharmed, there is no reason to kill this animals. Its not too late to reverse this.
It is disturbing that Ontario plans to reverse a province-wide ban on new “train and trial areas”, where hunters participate in the bloodsport of penned dog hunting. No other Canadian province allows penned dog hunting, and the cruel practice is unlawful in most of the United States.

It seems a dreadful double standard to ban dog fighting and yet propose for the expansion of this practice, let alone allow for it in the first place. I firmly reject MNR’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario.

Wildlife should never be taken from their natural environments and held captive by hunters. It’s especially cruel to use rabbits, coyotes, and foxes as pawns for hunters to train dogs and hold competitions.

Just how depraved can the human race become? This is absolutely disgusting.
These animals deserve to live their lives just like us. They live breathe feel emotions just like us, are wonderful parents and just want to live their lives in peace.
Animals are here with us not for us.
Under no circumstances do I think this is appropriate. It is an abhorrently cruel practice. The simple thought that it would even be considered is worrying. What kind of society are we creating when we allow anything to be trapped, tormented, and killed for sport. I’m enraged.
This is so wrong, barbaric and should not be allowed - what are we going bacck to the medeval times. I would be ashamed to be Canadian if this was passed.
Using dogs to hunt wildlife is extremely cruel. This is very backwards and out of step with the rest of the world which is moving to co-exist with wildlife, for a sustainable ecosystem. I am completely against encouraging this practice.
This is horrifying to think that we are considering increasing the abuse of wild animals for any reason whatsoever. This should be banned. Not given further leeway! Disgusting.
Please reconsider and cancel this amendment. Haven't we done enough terrible things to wild animals? Must we continue to persecute them? The idea of penning and terrorizing a wild animal to train dogs how to hunt it is ghastly and sadistic. And all of this is done for what reason?

If this is approved, the people responsible for the approval will forever be tied to the applicants and the resultant cruelty and the media will be sure to bring those names to light.

I am writing to request that no new licenses be issued for dog train and trial areas. The practice of capturing wild animals like rabbits, foxes and coyotes and using them as bait to train hunting dogs in enclosed pens is nothing short of barbarous.

I can see the usefulness of having these pursuit dog activities kept separate from other uses of crown and private land. In my area dogs charging through the bush have ruined hunts for some people and have annoyed other land owners.

Penned dog hunting is barbaric and belongs in the past - can’t believe this legal in 2023 so instead of expanding this anachronism all facilities should be closed. Wild animals should not be removed from their natural habitat to say the least.

Our threatened wildlife do NOT need to be further stressed by such a cruel policy of using captured wild animals to train hunting dogs! This would be a massive step backward for Ontario and I sincerely hope that this change is rejected!
