I was shocked to hear about the dog "train" and wild areas recently. Canada's shame for allowing them in the first place. Mike Harris went a long way to eradicate them. Now the "hunters" are forcing through a bill that is archaic and does not reflect modern day animal welfare and preservation.

The Ontario Government should NOT proceed with the proposed amendments to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to allow new licenses for facilities that use captive foxes, coyotes and rabbits as bait to train hunting dogs, or to transfer existing licenses.

I firmly reject the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s proposal to allow new licenses and the transfer of licenses for train and trial areas in Ontario.
This is cruel and inhumane to the animals involved and an unnecessary way of teaching dogs to hunt.
This is absolutely disgusting. To torture wildlife for sport and not even give them a fair chance to get away. And yes, it is absolutely cruelty to animals. Purely for the sport of hunting. If our government did this I would definitely not be proud to be a resident of Ontario anymore.
I am very disappointed in the ongoing province- sanctioned animal cruelty and the fact that animal rights and well-being were not mentioned at all in this proposal.

Is there really a need for theses type of facility's? It seems that these sites are maintained for the sole entertainment of a few people. Capturing and keeping wild animals to train dogs? Its time to shut down all of these areas as there is no need for them.
Hunting pens are inhumane and unethical. Wild animals such as foxes, coyotes, and rabbits are captured and held in captivity only to be subjected to cruelty, abuse, and suffering through the training and trialing of hunting dogs. These archaic facilities have no place in today’s society.

This proposal encourages animal cruelty and should absolutely not go forward. Containing wildlife for the purpose of training dogs to kill them goes against every ethical practice imaginable. Ontario should be banning such practices, not expanding them.
Maybe instead of captive animals, we should use MPs as live bait to train the dogs. It shouldn't take long for them to realize this is a cruel and inhumane idea that should be scrapped immediately.
I think these government officials are sick.
All the horrors going on in this world and this another one being sanctioned by our government is absolutely outrageous!!!
Using any animal as bait is just cruel and barbaric. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. We are supposed to be improving how we treat all living creatures as this is simply a step backward. Shame on whomever came up with this idea!
A self-professed civilized society is actually only as civilized as the way it treats all animals. This proposal will permit, and lead directly, to the cruel treatment of wildlife that deserves Ontario's respect and protection, not abuse.
