The Greenbelt is an integral part of our ecosystem. We're able to grow fresh fruits and vegetables, it homes so many animals and creatures. Why is Ford so adamant on destroying everything. Another highway doesn't fix anything in terms of traffic times. It's not even just the animals or the plants. Read more

I am writing, as a resident of Oro-Medonte, to express my dismay, even anger, at your government's choice to favour development and expediency over the protection of our habitat (yes, ours meaning humans), agriculture and rural areas, our watershed, green canopy, lake systems and countless other nat Read more

The proposed changes dramatically degrade Ontario’s environmental protections and set a dangerous precedent for disregarding long-term environment impacts in favour of short-term gains. Yes, we need to increase our housing, but not at the expense of our long-standing, protected natural zones. Read more

This proposal is unnecessary. The lands required for the new housing already exist outside the greenbelt. The greenbelt cannot be rebuilt once it is gone. The greenbelt is here for a reason. Keep it. If this proposal goes through I will never vote for Doug Ford again.

1. Prime agricultural land is a non-renewable resource. Paving it over impacts food security. 2. We need to focus on increasing development within existing urban boundaries. Beautify cities, make them walkable, and they will be vibrant and exciting places to live. Read more

The Greenbelt protects prime agricultural land, important natural areas, and a source of drinking water for many Ontario communities. Opening the Greenbelt to development will only benefit big developers (especially those who recently purchased lands in the Greenbelt). Read more

Go back to the drawing board and rethink this egregious plan. Premier Ford again has lied to the people of Ontario. He said he would NEVER permit development in the Greenbelt. Does this man understand nothing? Sure we need more housing but not in the Greenbelt. Read more

This is outrageous. It is unnecessary. It does nothing to create affordable housing. The Greenbelt needs to be protected. Ford promised it would be. We have enough serviced land in Pickering/Durham. We do not need to destroy farms and wetlands to enrich developers at tax payer expense.
