I am opposed to the bill to amend to boundaries of the greenbelt. Doug Ford promised not to touch the greenbelt. We need to maintain this for our environment and the next generations.
NO, NO, NO! Leave the Green belt as it is. There are many areas in towns and cities that can be infilled and many suitable for 4 to 6 plex units. We don't want Ontario paved over.
The Greenbelt is an unbroken expanse that was designed to protect rural and agricultural livelihoods as well as to preserve vital water resources systems and ecosystems into the future (MMAH, 2005).

Despite repeated promises that there would be no removal of lands from the Greenbelt, this proposal from the Government of Ontario is planning to carve 7,400 acres out of the Greenbelt anyway.

The greenbelt is a vital part of Ontario's agricultural and my environment. As somebody who lives right next to the greenbelt, I consider myself a stakeholder in Ontario's decision to expand development into the greenbelt.

This is a terrible idea. The Greenbelt exists for conservation purposes, not for building homes. And let’s not kid ourselves that the proposed homes will be affordable, or anywhere near public transit. Strongly disapprove of this plan.
Leave the green belt as is, there is absolutely no need for sprawl that will cause increase in air pollution and worsen the climate crisis. Leave our fertile farm land alone and the precious marsh and forests for wildlife.

It’s all about the money!! Those homes will displace/kill much needed green lands that currently are correcting greenhouse gasses that come from nearby cities. More homes means more pollution and a huge permanent and negative impact on global warming.

Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022 Act’s intent to increase housing in Ontario for low-income, young Canadians, and new Canadians is admirable – Premier Ford is a man of action and understands the need.

The premier promised not to touch the Green Belt; there's no need to touch the land in it, unless it is to expand it. Otherwise, the Housing Commission found that there's more than enough land (88,000 acres) for the needed 1.5 million homes in current urban boundaries.

Bill 23 is going to be a disaster for the province of Ontario, for its people, for the flora and fauna, for the land and waters. As Environmental Defense says, it is “inflicting a fatal 7,400 acre wound on the vital and wildly popular Greenbelt”.

The government’s study group said clearly that there was more than enough land for development without touching the Greenbelt. The premier promised not to touch this land and now shows he was lying.
