The idea of building homes faster does not address the tens of thousands of private homes being bought by investment companies buying up said homes and forcing low to middle income families to rent at extremely high rates.

Unbelievable that the government wants to do this. Blatant disregard for the future of both this province and the planet. Flood plains, farmland, and untouched lands were designated as such for a reason.

Greenbelts have been designated that for a reason. Greenbelts should not be overturned, especially in this time of global awareness, to create a profit for a temporary government.
Housing development should not come at the expense of green building standards or the protected Greenbelt. This response to the housing crisis is extremely short-sighted. Cheap housing and threatening Ontario's ecosystems will only introduce more issues in the future.
The loss of greenspace already in Ontario should be considered catastrophic. By further destroying what's left over you ensure decades of suffering for further generations.
Ontario’s Greenbelt protects farmland, communities, forests, wetlands and watersheds. It also preserves cultural heritage and supports recreation and tourism in Ontario’s Greater Golden Horseshoe.

The greenbelt should be kept whole and undeveloped. We must have hard boundaries on our cities to prevent continued urban sprawl and encourage infill development. Protect our farmland and protect our wetlands.
I can't trust you at all to keep your word on
saving our farms
Build further north on less arable land and provide incentives for everyone to locate there
It can be done
And new highway traffic can be on non destroyed farmland
Be creative with design ideas and development strategies

The Greenbelt is an important part of our province and should not be destroyed to increase developer profits. Densification in existing neighbourhoods can occur without harming this precious region. The housing crisis does not need to be addressed by destroying our environment.
I do not want our local ecosystem disrupted for more single family housing. Before we resort to shrinking the green belt, more effort to re-zone single family housing to medium density should be made.

The greenbelt as it is currently mapped allows green space and environmental diversity in areas of high density or future high density neighbourhoods. Changing these designations is not going to allow the residents of these communities to have green space in their neighbourhoods.

According to the Report of the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force, land is not a restriction on the supply of houses. The stated goal of adding 1.5 million homes can be achieved without touching the greenbelt.

The land was set aside for a reason. How are we going to feed more people if you keep paving over farmland. Density the land you have. Build family size units in condo towers instead of building out. No point in housing more people if we can't feed them.

I staunchly oppose any removal of Greenbelt land for development, including housing. Urban sprawl is not the way forward to adding homes in Ontario. We need to add density and services to support that density in our cities.

I don’t approve of opening up the green belt.
I wouldn’t consider myself a politically charged person, but this move would certainly motivate me to canvass for another political party
Many of these areas where Green spaces will be removed in order to build housing are already overcrowded, and the infrastructure is not there to handle the extra traffic and pedestrians.

The first thought to come to mind just form looking at the title of this proposal is that the Greenbelt is supposed to be protected natural landscape in a part of our province which is already quite developed; whether that be urban, suburban, or farmland/countryside.
