Some general comments. The proposal reflects a 'cookie-cutter approach' to zoning that is not appropriate for the varied conditions of lower density lots in communities across Ontario. Zoning regulations should be set relative to the unique circumstances found in various sized settlements. Read more

The removal of parking requirements, while potentially allowing additional ARUs, will likely cause additional parking on streets. The parking reduction will not eliminate the number of vehicles, but rather, make this more of an issue of on-street parking. Read more

The province needs to realise that there is other applicable law than the Planning Act or Zoning By-laws. The Ontario Building code requires minimum distances between buildings for the regulation of glazing and fire transfer between buildings. Read more
