Bike lane infrastructure is crucial for our province. I am against removing bike lanes. Bike lanes will not reduce gridlock because cyclists will have to take more space on the road for personal safety.

Hi,
I would like to voice my thoughts on bill 212, and why I think it is a bad idea, reversing progress made over the last decade.
1. The provincial government shouldn’t be adding red tape to local governments trying to improve transportation inside their community.

First of all, as someone that uses cycling as one of their primary modes of transportation, and has lived on Bloor street for a considerable amount of time, it is quite clear to me that the bike lanes are very well used, and move a lot more people than another lane of backed up traffic ever would.

I am against this proposal. I do not think removing bike lane will solve the problem of traffic.
We need more bike lanes, more subway lines.
We talk about climate change, how adding more car lanes will help?????

Bike lanes are great for local business. Removing bike lanes would hurt business without solving traffic issues. The government would be responsible for every single biker hurt or killed, and every single business who suffers after bike lane removal.
Hi there,
I am a bicycle rider riding ~2000km a year. Compared to other cities (Ottawa, Vancouver, to name a few), GTA is already less friendly to bike-riders. I am against any initiative (including this Bill 212) implicating less bike lanes in local area.

This bill is such a backwards look at how a modern society should be progressing. There is so much published evidence counter to this idea that has been ignored by the Premier. Providing safe alternatives to driving and on routes frequented by cyclists is the way forward.

NO! We do not want this. This will do nothing to ease traffic and increases danger for bikers who are simply trying to travel in more eco friendly and healthier manners. I firmly oppose this.
I think this is a ridiculous waste of taxpayer funds and goes against numerous studies that show bike lanes actually REDUCE traffic congestion.
Please stop with the nonsense ideas and leave bike lanes alone. Plan to add more bike lanes not remove existing lanes.
Every Ontarian deserves infrastructure that supports both SAFE and EFFICIENT travel within their municipal communities, regardless if they are driving a motor/electric vehicle, using public transportation, riding a bicycle, utilizing mobility devices, or are a pedestrian.

I DO NOT SUPPORT this Bill as written.
Specifically, I do not support the construction of Highway 413, or any proposed connections from this to other series 400 highways.

I am deeply concerned about the introduction of Bill 212, which will require the City of Toronto to reduce bike lanes on major streets such as in Bloor St, University Ave, and Yonge St. Instead of diminishing this crucial infrastructure, we should be expanding it.

Hands off Toronto bike lanes, current or future! If we want to keep people moving, in downtown Toronto especially, we need to have safe and extensive bike lanes as well as excellent public transit.

I strongly oppose this proposed legislation. It is not an example of "common sense" but rather knee-jerk reactionism. The reasons why I don't support this legislation include:

Safe cycling infrastructure (ie protected bike lanes) are arguably the best intervention a city can make for public health. They make traffic better, not worse. This law is a bonehead exercise.
I am strongly opposed to Bill 212. I oppose provincial involvement and legislation regarding bike lanes and I oppose the proposal of Hiway 413 and all the urban sprawl and traffic (CO2 emissions) that would come along with it in the Ontario Greenbelt Region.
