Proposal details
This proposal is for an Environmental Compliance Approval (Waste Disposal Site – Transfer Site) for an enclosed non-hazardous liquid waste storage / holding tank. The storage tank is located in Mapleton, Ontario, County of Wellington.
The storage tank is located on a property approximately 40.8 hectares in size that currently operates an abattoir. The storage tank has been pre-existing and operational since 2002, measures approximately 30.48 metres long by 12.19 metres wide by and 2.44 metres deep, and contains a volume of 968 cubic meters. The storage tank receives approximately 95,000 liters per week, equating to approximately 4.9 million liters per year. The waste from the storage tank is pumped regularly on an as-needed basis and spread onto farming land under two (2) Non-agricultural source materials (NASM) approvals. The integrity of the tank is verified by monitoring the level of waste within the tank. The facility operates from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
