This proposal is for an amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 6227-DAKKDU for Colt Canada Corporation, a facility that manufactures and maintains military and police grade small arms, located in the City of Kitchener, Ontario.
The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include a dip tank, proofing pit, shooting ranges, parts washers, and dust collectors. The amendment includes an increase the facility’s maximum production limit, an increase in the engineering shooting ranges maximum firing rate, and adjustment to both the engineering and production shooting range operation hours. Emissions to the air from this facility include:
- lead
- particulate matter
- petroleum distillate
The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
