Proceeding with these updates will ensure the assessment report and source protection plan are current and in place to protect sources of drinking water for the Greater Sudbury region.
We have approved amendments to Grand River’s Source Protection Plan and Assessment Report to ensure Ontario’s municipal drinking water sources continue to be protected. The amendments update existing water quality protections in Wellington County, include new water quantity protections in Brant County, with minor updates to other municipalities.

The amendments update the existing protection area around the Canadiana Shores drinking water system in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The amendments expand the existing protection area around the Stirling drinking water system in the Township of Stirling-Rawdon and the City of Quinte West, and the Pinewood drinking water system in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

We have updated a regulation under the Clean Water Act to better protect drinking water sources to safeguard new and expanding municipal drinking water supplies, improve how source protection plans are kept up to date and update the list of drinking water threats.
