The existing sewage works include 20 on-site sewage systems, each equipped with a septic tank and a conventional in-ground absorption trench leaching bed system. Of the 20 leaching beds, 11 will be replaced in a 'like-for-like' manner. The remaining nine leaching beds will have minor increases to the lengths of distribution piping in order to meet current design sizing requirements based on capacity.
The ministry may require effluent monitoring and may impose effluent limits.
