Bulletin summary

The Government of Ontario is taking action to build a more competitive, resilient and investment-ready economy by reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens and streamlining government processes. In support of this commitment, the Minister of Red Tape Reduction has introduced Bill 140, the Building Ontario Faster Act, 2026.

Why consultation isn't required

The proposed Building Ontario Faster Act, 2026 is a package of legislative changes led by the Ministry of Red Tape Reduction (MRTR). MRTR is not a prescribed ministry under the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 and is using the Environmental Registry of Ontario to share information with the public.

Participating ministries are responsible for assessing whether their proposals require consultation under the Environmental Bill of Rights and, where appropriate, posting proposal notices on the Environmental Registry of Ontario. This bulletin provides a summary of those notices for informational purposes only.

In addition, there are proposals in this Bill that do not have significant impact on the environment but may impact regulated entities. Opportunities to comment on these additional proposals are available on Ontario’s Regulatory Registry.
