Rockwood is know for its beautiful natural scenery and easily accessible trails, it's in the name after all! Expanding the greenbelt would help to protect the land that makes Rockwood unique.

1 Niagara Escarpment important recharge area in Melancth water surplus recharges the dolostone Aquifers upgradient of the 455 m asl contour Escarpment slope spring line. The local water surplus is equivalent to 30 to 40% of the dry season base flow at Wasaga Beach.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the Ontario government’s proposal to expand the existing Greenbelt to better protect our province’s water resources with a Bluebelt. As a supporter of the Food & Water First campaign, I endorse this plan.

As a member of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation and having spent all of my life at a cottage on Lake Simcoe at DeGrassi Point, which is on Innisfil’s third line I have to write to say how vastly important it is to consider this area part of the Greenbelt.

Rezoning of green belt areas has become a way of community growth. Growth is not always the right direction if the constituents of an area enjoy the smaller community / family environments, air quality, water availability and quality and general community / social wellness.
