I'm an employee for Resolute Forest Products in Thunder Bay Ontario. But firstly I'm a northwestern Ontario citizen that has been born and raised in this area. There are no better stewards of the forest than its neighbors that work, play and live in the wilderness. Read more

i am strong believer of environmental safety, and protecting endangered species, but also understand the importance of investing the time to properly capture all the angles to ensure the policy works for everyone and does not leave loop holes to lend it self to corrupting the original intent. Will the Caribou be Canada's elephants and giraffes? We just let them slip into extinction? This is not ok with me. Don't let industry bully us into that terrible choice. Don't be lazy and disregard these majestic creatures. Let's find a better way. [Original Comment ID: 212771]

You are planning to exempt the logging industry from Ontario’s Endangered Species at Risk Act until at least 2020. If these exemptions are approved, the already threatened caribou is at risk of losing the vast expanses of forest they need to survive. [Original Comment ID: 213080]

The result of an inadequate solution to the ESA will be catastrophic wood supply reductions, mill closures, contractors out of business, stranded First Nation investments in the forestry economy, and severe socio-economic and community impacts due to the loss of sustainable employment. Read more
