Remove the requirement for the minister to consult with an independent expert on whether survival of a species would be jeopardized prior to creating a new regulation under the ESA or when issuing a permit to harm a species for economic benefit.

I am concerned about the changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act. Ontario is the most densely populated province with the highest concentration of endangered species. If there is any province that needs evidence-based decision making it would be Ontario. Read more

The Provincial Plan to amend the Endangered Species Act, 2007 will weaken protections for species at risk and their habitats. Allowing developers to pay into a fund instead of ensuring that species are not harmed will mean that more species will be further threatened or extirpated. Read more
