Passing this amendment will make riding on these highways much safer for all of us motorcyclists.
Keeping us safely tucked in the HOV lane away from the hectic lanes reduces our exposure to danger and will surely save lives !

A motorcycle typically has 2 seats (for the main rider + 1 passenger).
1 rider out of 2 possible seats represents 50% occupancy which is more than a typical car with 2 people on board and 5 seats (40% occupancy).

Motorcycles are a fuel efficient form of transportation. Many of them are also air cooled, needing to keep moving to avoid overheating. Access to the restricted lanes is a great idea, with the added benefit of being safer for motorcyclists.
All the usual reasons but the most glaring is that this will allow female riders the opportunity to travel the 400 series highways. Female ridership is the fastest growing area in motorcycling but most female riders will not carry a passenger.

My assumption is that the purpose of an HOV lane is to encourage car pooling and thereby reduce traffic congestion. It seems that was expanded to also use it to encourage people to drive green (low emissions) vehicles.

I think this should definitely be passed! A motorcycle uses less fuel as a single occupant rides and has a motor 1/5th the size of a Honda civic "on average" some even electric.
The government is pushing us to save the eco system so let us!

Motorcycles should be allowed to use HOV lanes. It is simply safer for everyone. If you look at the laws at the United States this is allowed. When Toronto implemented the HOV lane on the Gardner for the olympics , motorcycles were allowed to ride on this lane and well.

I support motorcycles being allowed to use HOV lanes in Ontario. HOV lanes are far safer than regular lanes and if green license plates vehicles can use HOV lanes with ONE occupant then motorcycles should be allowed with one operator too.
