I support CPAWS recommendations to stop hunting calves, to provide protected areas, to fund more research and observation, and to let more regular citizens be involved in group. Eliminate spraying of harmful pesticides in forests. Thanks.

We are pleased that MNRF is reviewing policy and measures in regard to moose. This is timely, if not indeed urgent. We offer the following comments and suggestions for your consideration in the context of the changes already in train. Read more

Put a stop to killing of all animals. Society needs to wake up, destroying out planet, one species at a time. I am ashamed to be lumped into the human category, people who hunt are not humane , they are a disgrace, no different then slaughter houses. Just a smaller version.

To allow Ontario's moose populations to recover from their current decline, the Ministry should greatly reduce the number of tags as well as the length of the hunting season, completely prohibit the hunting of calves, as well as party hunting and the use of ATVs during a hunt. Read more

To enlist the comments and concerns of hunters with regard to changes to the hunting practices of moose is akin to asking the fox to provide security for the hen house. It's a ridiculous plan and one that will not stand for ALL Ontarians. Read more

I live in Parry Sound and I am apposed to the calf hunt for moose In spite of the MNRF count mentioned in Ontario Out Of Doors magazine the moose population in WMU district is declining. We need to cancel the calf hunt to rebuild the herd

[REVISED COMMENT] I am an Ontarian and deeply concerned about the OMNRF's ongoing failure to address the decline of moose populations in Ontario, and the entrenched influence of the hunting lobby on the OMNRF's approach to wildlife conservation. Read more

Some "food for thought" from people who actually live in the bush year round in WMU 41: - if over 90 calf are hunted each fall - what is there to grow up? - "the children are our future" is not only true for humans but for every species! Read more

The update is a step in the right direction, but is insufficient. Echoing the Ontario Wildlands League, recommendations are: • End the calf hunt. Even with new restrictions, Ontario will still be in the minority of jurisdictions Read more

Calf Hunting. REALLY! Big Brave Hunter can't be bothered hunting a full grown moose. Would rather hunt a calf that doesn't have the craft or survival skills to avoid a hunter. Sounds too much like canned hunting. No wonder moose are declining in population. Read more
